“There are certain individuals who are well respected by their contemporaries, however what makes them great are their qualities and accomplishments that are quite different from the goals and the ideals of the masses. These people are recognized only by a minority, and it's easy to imagine that the majority of people don't even bother to learn more about them. However, when one considers the discrepancies between the thoughts and actions of men, and the variety of “wishful impulses (wunschregung)” that exist, it's not that easy to reach such a conclusion.” Sigmund Freud
My series of portraits, entitled “Wunschregung” takes its name from Freud's concept. The individuals depicted in these paintings possess a wide variety of personalities as in Freud´s description.
